Jimmy Garoppolo Leaves Game With Injured Shoulder

The Jimmy Garoppolo era was underway with Tom Brady out for the first four games of the season, but it now may be over before it even started.

Today against the Miami Dolphins, the New England Patriots backup suffered a nasty tackle by Kiko Alonso and ended up injuring his right shoulder on the play. He tried to play through it, but ultimately got on one knee in a sign of pain. The team announced he was questionable to return, but from what we’ve seen in the past, it looks like the QB may miss some time.

Rookie Jacoby Brissett is now under center in New England for the time being.

Garoppolo was having a great game before the injury, going 18 for 27 and snagging 234 yards through the air. Not to mention throwing for three touchdowns.

According to the Boston Herald, Garoppolo’s injury could take 4-6 weeks to heal. Does that means he has a separated shoulder? We’ll update you with more details as they trickle out.

UPDATE: X-Rays came back negative and the Patriots have gotten good news. It seems like Jimmy suffered a sprained AC joint in his shoulder. He could miss 1-2 weeks.
