Johnny is back out of rehab before the start of off-season workouts
Last year, Johnny Manziel was selected as the 22nd pick in the 2014 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns. While the team was still undecided in giving the former Texas A&M Heisman trophy winner the keys to the city (whenever LeBron James is in hibernation), Manziel had to endure a quarterback battle with veteran Brian Hoyer.
With limited time in the pre-season with the starting unit and key players missing from the team in his two starts, Manziel had immense pressure to live up to his legendary college career. Unfortunately, his rookie year expectations were too much for him initially, which according to reports led to some alcoholic abuse.
Last February, Johnny Football voluntarily checked himself into an undisclosed rehab facility and spent 10 weeks to get treatment for his unspecified problem. Gaining support from owner Jimmy Haslam and coach Mike Pettine, Manziel can now finally put this troubled start behind with hopes of having a potentially breakout season as the day-one starter. The team, however, did sign free agent Josh McCown as an insurance policy over the winter in case of injury or off-field incident happens regarding their guy.
