It appears former head coach and current ESPN Monday Night Football analyst Jon Gruden isn’t ready for the NFL sidelines just yet. One day following “Black Monday”, where we saw a total of six coaches being relieved of their duties, it’s natural that someone with a resume like Gruden would be mentioned for a job. Unfortunately, Gruden revealed to the Pioneer Press he has no intention of coming back NFL at the present.
This doesn’t mean that Gruden will not be back in the NFL anytime soon, but it could mean he’s waiting for a right situation to surface. Could this mean a return to the Raiders, if they fire current head coach Dennis Allen? At this point, we will all have to wait and see; but having Gruden’s fiery attitude back in the MNF booth next year is no problem with us.
“I don’t want to be considered for any of these jobs,” Gruden said, via the Pioneer Press. “I don’t want to be considered for anything. There are plenty of good candidates out there. I’m just sick for the guys who can no longer coach their teams. … I’m hoping to do the best I can to hang on to my job.”
