NFL Suspends Josh Gordon for 2014 Season

NFL: Detroit Lions at Cleveland Browns
NFL arbitrator Harold Henderson & Commissioner Roger Goodell uphold Josh Gordon’s 1-year suspension.

The Cleveland Browns have had one of the more story driven off-seasons among all other franchises in quite some time. With the quarterback controversy surrounding Johnny Manziel and Brian Hoyer in who will finish the season as the starter, attention from the team and the sports world has turned to the suspension of star wide receiver Josh Gordon.

The NFL has official upheld their one-year suspension of Gordon for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy today. Sadly this wasn’t his first offense, which some even predicted he could receive a lifetime ban. NFL arbitrator Harold Henderson denied the appeal earlier today, as Gordon will now have for reinstatement through Commissioner Roger Goodell.

Although the team made drastic improvements on defense, the team hindered by in-experienced quarterbacks will see the league’s leading receiver out of action the entire year.

“I’d like to apologize to my teammates, coaches, the Cleveland Browns organization and our fans. I am very disappointed that the NFL and its hearing officer didn’t exercise better discretion and judgment in my case. I would like to sincerely thank the people who have been incredibly supportive of me during this challenging time, including my family, my agent, my union, my legal team, and the Cleveland Browns staff.”
