It’s crazy to think that J.R. Smith has been a free agent this entire time and we’re weeks away from the season starting. Luckily for him, he can get back to basketball thanks to the new offer the Cleveland Cavaliers have put on the table: 4 years for $57 million dollars.

The first three years of the deal are guaranteed, worth a reported $45 million.

Details on the fourth season, which is not fully guaranteed are murky (and probably why negotiations took so long) as of now but should be worked out in the coming days.

Smith officially puts the Cavs payroll at about $125 million for the season, the highest in the history of the NBA and the organization will have to pay $30 million in luxury taxes.

Up to this point, J.R. had only made $45 million in his 12 year career but his new deal with eclipse his entire career earnings in a mere three years.
