Kevin Durant Is Willing To Sign Smaller Contract To Keep Warriors Team Together

Dynasty in the making?

Kevin Durant must really love the Golden State Warriors. We only say that because it seems like he’s ready to sign a contract and take less money to stay on the team and not break up the core group of players from their championship squad more than they already have.

With him and Steph Curry looking to get new extensions this next summer, the Warriors have little wiggle room to keep some of their roster in tact, especially if Curry signs a ‘supermax’ contract.

Just to keep both (if both for max contracts), Golden State would have to sacrifice Andre Iguodala and Shaun Livingston, both crucial parts of their current NBA Finals team.

Sources tell ESPN that if Durant inks the deal for lesser money, they will not have to renounce their rights and still give Curry the maximum money he deserves. Plus, they can keep both Iggy and Livingston and sign them to comparable deals so they don’t leave in free agency.

It’s obvious KD wants to stay in the Bay Area for years to come and he’s making sure he’s doing his part to keep the Warriors in the NBA Finals and contending in the foreseeable future.
