Not the Lakers just yet. . .
With LeBron James and now Klay Thompson being constant players linked to the Los Angeles Lakers, the Splash Bros. member sat down Oakland’s The Athletic publication to address rumors.
Although he wouldn’t completely confirm that he was locked on re-signing in two years, Klay said he’s willing to stay – even if it means a pay cut. Steph Curry and Draymond Green are pretty much locked up for their prime years in the league, after recently agreeing to new maximum deals.
In the sit-down with The Athletic, Klay said the culture the team has created over the last five years and his comfort level in the Bay is worth more than any price coming his way. While that may sound honest right now, it’s only a matter of time before Klay gets offered a $200 million contract deal of his own. He’s currently eligible for unrestricted free agency in 2019, when he’ll be 29.
