Just win baby. . . Just win BRON!
With the exception of Michael Jordan, no other human being dreads watching the NBA Finals and not being on the hardwood more than Kobe Bryant. The Black Mamba is still preparing to enter the final season of his career with the Los Angeles Lakers this summer and has been surprisingly paying attention to this year’s NBA Finals – along with 25 million viewers to make it the most popular series since his battle against Allen Iverson in 2001 with Shaquille O’Neal. LeBron James, who’s currently in the most important series of his career thus far, has been averaging 40 points a game, alongside a triple double with rebounds and assist.
Without fellow superstars Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving on the court due to injuries, this has forced LeBron’s field-goal attempts to drastically rise from 19 in the regular season, to a jaw-dropping 36 right now in the NBA Finals. King James hasn’t received any criticism for overexerting himself on the court on the offensive end, playing with limited help – which has even prompted some fans to jokingly draw comparisons to Kobe himself.
Bryant’s known for taking high-volume shots no matter the time of season and came to LeBron’s defense last night simply saying let it fly. LeBron’s been more of a pass-first point-forward to get his entire team involved, but desperate times call for even more desperate measures (see: his last consecutive four made free throws in the clutch), as James is finally playing the alpha-male role we’ve been wanting him to since day one.
