Please retire as a Laker Kobe
The hype surrounding the Lakers season starting losing streak has circulated a number of rumors in NBA circles. Will Kobe Bryant leave Los Angeles and head East to play with Phil Jackson and the New York Knicks and try to capture that last championship ring? That’s the big question everyone has been asking lately, especially since the Lakers woes have been some of the worst fans have ever seen.
But after finally getting that first win of the season against the Charlotte Hornets, Kobe says there’s no chance he’ll leave L.A. and/or that he will even continue playing after his contract expires in 2016.
“It’s not going to happen. You go through the good times, you’ve got to go through the bad times. I have a no-trade clause. (Lakers governor) Jeanie (Buss) and (Lakers executive vice president of basketball operations) Jimmie (Buss) aren’t sending me anywhere. I’m so loyal to this organization, there’s not a chance (of him leaving)…I’ve been really fortunate to win a lot of games here, a lot of championships here. You can’t **** with (that).”
It’s still early in the season, so who knows if Kobe’s mind changes after playing in one of the worst seasons ever in Los Angeles, but for now, fans can breathe a sigh of relief. You know that Western Conference isn’t making anything easy for them.
