The Heat didn’t have enough for Lowry to leave.
It appears one of the most wanted free agent point guards will be staying at home in Toronto, as ESPN reported tonight Kyle Lowry has agreed to a 4-year, $48M extension with the Raptors. Lowry is definitely worth the money, especially following a career season, averaging 17.9 points and 7.4 assists a game, all while leading the team to their first playoff appearance since 2008.
Although they had a first round exit, Toronto pushed the Brooklyn Nets to seven games falling just short at the buzzer in a heart-breaking 104-103 loss.
As soon as the free agency period began, the Raptors GM made it very clear that securing Lowry would be his top priority and Lowry proved his loyalty over taking his talents to the with the Heat or Rockets (Houston made a mistake letting him go in the first place). In addition to the re-signing of Lowry, the Raptors recently acquired Lou Williams from the Atlanta Hawks, giving them impressive back court depth. They will definitely be back in the playoffs next year and possibly into the second round.
“This ain’t Amir jersey y’all!! Lol….. it’s for the 2014-15 season cause Toronto will be my home city.”
