At the age of 30, LaMarcus Aldridge is looking for the one accolade to complete his career – an NBA Championship. Since spending nearly 10 years in Portland, he’s witnessed the team have their dreams shattered multiple occasions with career injuries to both Brandon Roy and Greg Oden.
Although the team drafted Damian Lillard just three years ago, Aldridge informed the Blazers it was time to move on, on the cusp of NBA Free Agency. After deliberating whether or not he should join the Phoenix Suns, LaMarcus decided returning home to Texas was best for his career alongside the San Antonio Spurs.
After inking a four year, $80 million deal last week, Aldridge was quickly introduced by the team as the newest member, which even promoted Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili to return for at least one more year. In a conversation with Marc Spears, LaMarcus detailed how being recruited by Gregg Popovich, who never goes hunting in free agency, as the deciding factor to helping build his career and game on the court.
