Larry King Now Discusses New NFL “N-Word” Rule

Using the N-word on the field is now “unsportsmanlike conduct” according to the NFL rule.

Larry King wanted to discuss the new NFL rule with a group of panelists in his latest episode of Larry King Now, to get their take on the change and if they agreed with it or not. Among those there to discuss the topic, were Ryan Ford, Nipsey Hu$$le, Jimmie Lee Solomon and Chester Pitts and they all had their own views on the subject.

From generational gaps, to the intention behind how they said the word, all pretty much argued there are different variations of how to use the N-Word. One of the more interesting points they made was the fact that no other slurs were banned from the league, so that’s discriminatory within itself.

What if players were using it as endearment towards their teammate? How different would it be for a white ref to penalize that as opposed to an African-American ref? These are all questions that are blurry as of now. There are too many grey areas.

The panel also talked about how each interprets the word and why if Hip-Hop helped diminish the power of what the word once held. Nipsey argued that they grew up in a different era where the word is used in a different context, even though the older generation may still get offended because they grew up during segregation.

What do you think about the NFL rule? Do you think it should be banned? Does it bother you when other races other than black use the word?
