This is the only thing LeBron wants to proove
It’s no secret that LeBron James wants to become the greatest player of all time; but after giving Cleveland their first championship in over five decades, he’s now embracing what the media has been touting him as since he first came into at 18 – the predecessor to Michael Jordan.
With King James on the verge of making an attempt to go to his seventh straight NBA Finals and potentially even out his win/loss record on the biggest stage, the 31-year-old sat down with Sports Illustrated to touch on becoming the greatest player that ever lived.
Like we previously mentioned, James finally captured the illusive title for his home state of Ohio and revealed his true motivation right now, is chasing the ghost of Michael Jordan.
Apparently, LeBron isn’t satisfied with becoming the first player ever to overcome a 3-1 deficit in the Finals; and even admitted that self-doubt was in mind on losing his second straight Larry O’Brien Trophy to the Warriors, heading into game five – but we all know what happened next.
After leading teams in points, assist, rebounds, steals and blocks – the King won’t have peace until he retires in a few years and is chasing the ghost of Chicago. Take a look at excerpts from the interview below and let us know in the comments if you think LeBron will go down as the greatest.
“Why do I feel like I’m about to go into therapy? Because you started talking about ghosts. My career is totally different than Michael Jordan’s. What I’ve gone through is totally different than what he went through. What he did was unbelievable, and I watched it unfold. I looked up to him so much. I think it’s cool to put myself in position to be one of those great players, but if I can ever put myself in position to be the greatest player, that would be something extraordinary. My motivation is this ghost I’m chasing. The ghost played in Chicago.”
