LSU is no longer under-the-radar after this performance!
Following their thriller last weekend against the Mississippi State Bulldogs, LSU was finally home for their season opener in another SEC division rivalry game. The no. 18 ranked Auburn Tigers were in town, but they must’ve missed the memo last week that Leonard Fournette sent. In follow-up to his first game against Miss St., Fournette would capture a career high of 228-yards and 3-TDs.

Essentially, with the right blocking, Leonard just had his way with the Auburn defense. The AUB Tigers went scoreless in the first half to head inside for the break, down 24-0, as LSU would maintain their lead in the second half. Jeremy Johnson of Auburn would soon give his team and faithful on hand some hope with a jaw-dropping 65-yard run to put up the team’s first points of the game.

However, on the very next drive, Leonard would have another score, which was arguably the best play of the entire day. On a pitch, he would use the most of his blocking, including a diving tackler that couldn’t bring him down; and capped off the run with another cut back to leave the entire opposing team in the dust. Heisman Trophy voters got another look at Fournette, which some are already feeling he’s worthy of running away with the elite achievement later year.
