In arguably the biggest fixture of the season so far, Liverpool used the home support to their advantage in a tough 3-2 win against Man City. The game got off to a quick start and Sterling managed to make it 1-0 in just the sixth minute, after keeping his composure in the penalty area and slotting the ball into the back of the net. Yaya Toure made an unfortunate exit from the game early on after undertaking an injury, giving Garcia the chance to make an impact. A dominant Liverpool side continued to maintain the pressure and Skrtel responded with a headed goal in the 26th minute.

The second half saw a surprisingly strong start from Man City, who responded to the scoreline with a 57th minute goal from Silva via a close shot, giving the Manchester side a chance to increase the momentum. Less than 10 minutes later, a deflection from a Johnson put the ball over the line and made it level at 2-2. With City taking a significant boost in the game, Liverpool kept the spirit alive and capitalized on an error from Kompany, as Coutinho sent a neat shot past Hart, making the final score 3-2. Despite the win, a terrible tackle from Henderson saw him sent off in injury time.

Liverpool go clear at the top of the Premier League, while City stay third behind Chelsea.
