In one of the biggest Premier League games of the season, Liverpool managed to carry on their run of form by assuring a stunning 3-0 win away against Manchester United. The first goal arrived from Steven Gerrard during the 34th minute, after Rafael gave away a penalty from a clear handball. One minute after the half time break, Gerrard grabbed his second goal of the day with yet another penalty, due to Jones bringing down Allen in the 18-yard box. The 77th minute saw a red card for Vidic, after taking down Sturridge in the area.
Gerrard had the chance to grab his hat-trick from the spot, but only managed to strike against the post. Despite the miss, Suarez scored in the 84th minute to tally his 25th league goal of the season, and securing a 3-0 win for Liverpool.
Man United still sit in seventh in the Premier League, while Liverpool move into second, just four points behind Chelsea.
