After the expected sacking of David Moyes earlier last month, it’s been announced that Louis van Gaal will take over Man Utd from next season, after he finishes his contract in charge of the Netherlands when the World Cup comes to an end. Ryan Giggs took on the role as player-manager for the remainder of the 2013/14 season, but will remain at the club as Gaal’s assistant, who will serve as a key part of going forward in terms of playing at United since 1987.
Man Utd had one of their most disappointing forms in history last season, having finished seventh place behind Tottenham. Gaal has been in charge of the likes of Ajax, Barcelona and Bayern Munich over the years, and will hope the experience leads to success in England throughout his three-year contract.
