It’s been over 15-years since the last time we saw an all-star game held in New York City, but the NBA’s most celebrated weekend may be returning to the big apple in 2015. Next year, the all-star game is scheduled to emanate from the New Orleans Arena (tenant to the Pelicans) on February 16th.
The NBA is currently in the process of making a formal announcement next month with Manhattan and Brooklyn co-hosting the festivities, being a first in the league’s history. Brooklyn would host the all-star weekend for Friday and Saturday’s events at the newly built Barclay’s Center; while Manhattan would get the big game on Sunday at MSG.
The idea has been in the air since last February, but will soon become official in a few weeks. There’s also plans of bringing All-Star weekend back to the city before 2020, which Barclays would get the big game and Madison Square hosting the other events. Stay tuned for more information about the announcement.
