The Perfect Storm Returns, As Manny Pacquiao vs. Timothy Bradley II Is Officially Set For April 12.
After losing consecutive fights during 2012, Manny Pacquiáo made his return to the boxing ring last November in successful fashion, defeating Brandon Rios for the vacant WBO International Welterweight title. Saturday afternoon, Timothy Bradley agreed to give Pacman a rematch for the WBO welterweight champion on April 12 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.
During their initial bout in the spring of 2012, Bradley won on split-decision, which unofficial score cards from Yahoo! Sports, USA Today and even Showtime felt Pacquiao won. While Bradley has received tons of criticism, he’s gone on to successfully defend his title with impressive victories over both Ruslan Provodnikov and Juan Manuel Marquez.
The elephant in the room will forever be the Filipino star’s long-awaited fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. Floyd only has 4 fights remaining on his 6-fight CBS deal, and an impressive victory from Pacquiao over Bradley this spring could be the Trojan-horse for getting the fight we’ve been waiting for since 2007 done.
