Big waves came down upon the college football and NFL scene today, when Oregon junior Quarterback Marcus Mariota revealed that he is going to return for his junior season for the Ducks. The implications for next years NCAA season are huge because now the Ducks will once again be considered a top team and be vying for one of the elusive four playoff spots.
As far as the NFL is concerned, Mariota was considered a top QB prospect this season; and many experts had him pegged to go in the top 10 of the draft. A similar situation to Mariota is when Matt Barkley stayed for his final year at USC and went from a top 10 prospect to falling to the much later rounds. In Mariota’s case, we hope this decision doesn’t backfire for him.
