IT WAS ALL GOOD RIGHT BEFORE PRESEASON

Mark Sanchez went into Denver as a sure fire started for the Broncos after the team lost Peyton Manning. The QB had a rookie and an unproven backup to compete with for the starting job. All he had to do was go in there, do his job and it was his.

So what happened? The complete opposite.

Trevor Siemian was named the started out in Mile High, with rookie Paxton Lynch securing the back up role and after a horrible preseason, Sanchez was out of the door. The Broncos will now save about $3.5 million in cap space with the move and an upcoming seventh-round draft pick.

“I will tell you this … he handled it with great class. I know he’s disappointed. He wanted to stay here and, you know, we just thought with where we are, we thought it was best for us to [go] different ways at this time. But Mark was great, and you know what? He handled everything great … I thought he handled it great, and it’s just unfortunate he didn’t win that job.’ – John Elway

Sanchez is now headed to the Dallas Cowboys on a one-year deal, to be backup to rookie Dak Prescott, who took over the starting role when Tony Romo injured his back.

Keep getting those checks Mark.
