We’re sitting here three days later, still discussing and debating whether the no-penalty call in that Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys Wild Card game was a penalty or not. On the field, the call was reversed with no explanation, but after the fact, the NFL head official has said that the call should have been holding. The NFL also admitted they missed a holding penalty on the Cowboys 4th and 6 later in the quarter.
On Tuesday night, Inside The NFL on Showtime aired footage of Matthew Stafford mic’d up for Sunday’s playoff game, getting a first-hand look at what he was thinking of the time of the play.
As you can see, he thought it was “unbelievable” and congratulated the refs for that bogus call. The refs argued there was no contact before the ball was thrown, but it’s still hard to believe.
