When overpaying an NFL player goes wrong
The Dolphins may be without their defensive-end Dion Jordan for the entire season, but they’ve made moves this off-season at signing Ndamukong Suh to a $114M deal and today with another multi-year deal. Today, Miami has announced a major and questionable extension today, with quarterback Ryan Tannehill seeing a four-year, $77 million extension (on top of his already two-year, $18 million rookie extension).
With Andrew Luck and Russell Wilson both still awaiting new contracts, the former eight overall pick from Texas A&M in 2012 is locked with the franchise until 2020 and will look to take the team to the playoffs for the first time this season since 2008. Tannehill st career highs last season in completion, passing, touchdowns and passer-rating.
Dolphins are giving QB Ryan Tanehill a six-year, $96 million extension that includes $45 million guaranteed, per league source.
