Ms. Tate is getting ready for her first title defense
Earlier this weekend, it was announced that Miesha Tate would be fighting Amanda Nunes, in her first title defense at UFC 200 this summer. With Ronda Rousey still not ready to return to the ring and Dana White moving Holly Holm to the back of the line after a public rift before her loss, Miesha is taking any-and-all-challengers for her Bantaweight Championship this year.
In an interview with UFC on FOX, Tate discussed her reasoning for going forward with the Amanda fight – citing Holm’s reign was too short to immediately have a rematch, and felt Nunes was the toughest active fighter in her weight class. Speaking of which, Miesha also discussed Cris Cyborg’s unwillingness to drop down to 135 weight and how she would even go up to 140 to make the battle happen hopefully before the end of the year.
