It seems as if the Houston Rockets are going through some sort of crisis this offseason because management is making a plethora of changes.
From making every player besides James Harden available for trades, firing their coaching staff and now ending contract extensions with Mike D’Antoni, things aren’t all good in Houston. At this point, who knows what the roster is looking like and who will be there to start the season.
According to Houston Chronicle, D’Antoni is looking to run out his contract after the 2019-2020 season after ending talks for an extension, most likely making him a hot commodity by the end of the year.
“We could not come to terms on an extension. I have my contract still. I’m looking forward to the year and having a great season. I think we’re going to have a great year, and we’ll go from there.
I’ve let Daryl and [owner] Tilman [Fertitta] know that I’m energized to keep coaching — and believe that I can continue to do this at a high-level for at least another three years.”
Could this be the beginning of a rebuild for Houston? It feels like GM Daryl Morey wants to turnover the roster, but it’s not clear if he thinks they can still make a run at a championship in the coming years.
Should be pour out a little liquor for the Rockets already?
