MLB Seeks 100-Game Suspension For A-Rod, Braun & Others Connected To Tony Bosch & Miami-Area Clinic.
Today has not been a good day for Alex Rodriguez, especially from the Yankees organization, with Hal Steinbrenner voicing his displeasure with the former two-time MVP under pinstripes. A-Rod had been training in Tampa, Florida with hopes of rejoining the team sometime at this season; but those plans look like they’ll never happen.
Moments ago, ESPN’s “Outside The Lines” learned that the MLB has enough evidence to go forward with suspending Rodriguez, Ryan Braun and 20 other players to be linked to Performance Enhancement Drugs, or Steroids. The athletes all link to a Miami-area clinic ran by Tony Bosch and if convicted, this could effectively turn out to be the largest scandal in American sports history.
This marks the first time A-Rod will be suspended; but Ryan Bruan is no stranger to PED speculation, facing a 50-game suspension in 2011, but passed an appeal drug test the following the year to avoid suspension.
Tony Bosch, founder of the clinic (Biogenesis of America) has agreed to cooperate with an investigation from the MLB, giving them enough evidence to suspend the players that have been denying PED use for years. Within the next week, Bosch will be making a formal announcement of players names in a press conference with the MLB to follow suit with official suspensions the week after.
