Monday Night Football: Bears/49ers Preview

Chicago at San Francisco
Time: 8:30 PM (ET) | Tonight
Network: ESPN

For the game of the week and the final game of week 11, the San Francisco 49ers travel to Chicago to play the Bears in an important game for both teams to court home-field advantage and a potential first round bye, with the NFL playoffs quietly creeping up. Here we a battle of the NFL top two defenses in the league, as both teams are coming off embarrassing week 10 efforts. The Bears lost to the Texans where they had only one red zone appearance with 4 turnovers, as their QB Jay Cutler would leave the game with a concussion. Veteran backup QB, Jason Campbell has been tapped to fill in the Cutler void, but the Bears will need all the offensive help they can get facing this 49ers defense.

The 49ers are fresh from their overtime game against division rival St. Louis Rams which ended in a tie, causing them to not gain any ground in the record standings in the NFL. A win last week could’ve had them tied with the Bears at 7-2 all, but they must now fight to make up ground for a “pointless” game. The Bears are in trouble too, in their own division, as the Green Bay Packers are only a half-game behind them in the loss columns winning five consecutive as Minnesota is staring in their rear-view mirror at 6-4 also.

Some key match-ups to lookout for tonight will be J’Marcus Webb trying to stop Aldon Smith from getting to the QB along with Major Wright covering Vernon Davis. Both teams should be good on the defensive end as the game will come down to the efforts from both QB’s.

Behind the scenes here, we’re watching this game just strictly for entertainment purposes and Jason Campbell, who we always tune in for when he hits the field. We got Frisco by 10, but if the 49ers happen to lose and some fluke shit happens with Mr. “J.C.”; the 49ers need to re-evaluate their season.
