The rookie gets ready for the season
You can say Myles Turner was a bit fortunate as far as where he ended up in this past NBA Draft. The Indiana Pacers are usually a playoff team and wouldn’t select in the lottery, but an injury to Paul George derailed those plans, not to mention losing Lance Stephenson in free agency last season. With PG13 back in the lineup and the addition of Monta Ellis in the squad now, the Pacers are looking to bounce back from a disappointing season and challenge the Eastern Conference super powers heading into this year.
As the pre-season rolls along, Turner decided to go to Queens, NY where his pops grew up and hang around the neighborhood and get a sense of what it’s like out there. He says family means a lot to him, because they’re what drives him to succeed.
Myles went to the University of Texas on a one-and-done year, coming out of the Longhorns basketball team after his freshman year and entering for the draft.
It will be interesting to see how the Pacers groom him and how much playing time he gets this season, as he brings space to the front court with his 3-point shooting ability for being a 6’11” center in the league. At the least, Indiana will be in the playoffs.
