Myles Turner Talks LeBron James Block and Rookie Season

Rookie Myles Turner had a solid first year after being picked No. 11 in the NBA Draft and going to the Indiana Pacers. Although his game wasn’t consistent at all times, he was a defensive presence in the paint and put some nice offensive performances throughout the season. In his first year, he averaged 10.3 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.4 blocked shots per game.

The Texas native sat down with VICE on a Ride Along to discuss his first season in the NBA and some of the highlights from it.

In his talk, he recalls how he felt when he blocked LeBron James and how the king reacted afterwards, getting the call from the coach to let him know he’d be starting his first game and how the team hazed him by forcing him to get breadsticks before every flight. He also spoke on draft night, what an injury in high school changed his perspective on the game and scoring career highs in a game against the best team in the history of an NBA season, this year’s Golden State Warriors.
