IT’S LIT!
The NBA was criticized more than ever before last season for their playoff seedings, especially in the Western Conference, where teams were fighting tooth and nail for a spot in the Top 8. Now, thanks to a vote by the league’s Board of Governors, change is going to come.
The board has ruled that seeding will be based solely on record, which effective immediately, nullifies the guarantee of teams getting one of the top four seeds by winning their division. This scenario came into play last season when the Portland Trail Blazers won the No. 4 seed in the Western Conference, even though their record reflected that of a No. 6 because of their record. By the new rules, that could have changed last year’s outcome drastically.
Teams will be seeded one through eight based on their win-loss record moving forward.
