The game of games is finally here. Tonight on CBS, we will see the Kentucky Wildcats and UConn Huskies battle for the NCAA championship. This game will go down as the highest combined ranking ever for a NCAA championship game, as nobody thought that either of these teams could make it this far. The journeys for both squads went through #1 seeds, but just at different junctures of the tournament, as UConn knocked off Florida in the Final Four, and Kentucky narrowly beat Wichita State to advance to the Sweet 16.
The dynamic of each of these teams is the polar opposite of one another. UConn is lead by experienced players that know what it takes to win games by effective offensive schemes and solid defense. Kentucky on the other hand is a team filled with Freshmen, who are on one of the most magical runs in tournament history. In each of their last three games, they have hit a game-winning shot with under a minute to go. Pressure means nothing to these 18-year old’s.
Like we do for all the major sporting events, we broke down some keys to the action for the game. Some things that each team needs to accomplish if they want to take home the trophy and cut down the nets. Check it out after the jump.
