Too Little, Too Late As Giants Miss Playoffs Following Super Bowl Championship
Earlier today in East Rutherford, New Joisey; the Giants held their season finale at home against the Philadelphia Eagles who fell under the radar with the poor play of both NYG and Dallas with RG3 quickly taking the NFL by storm. Speaking of last, Michael Vick would also start his last game for the Eagles as he replaced injured QB Nick Foles who became the starter after Vick’s concussion suffered on November 11th.
The Giants wanted to the end their season off on a “good-note” with a victory in hopes of squeaking into the postseason; but Jay Cutler and the Chicago Bears would end those dreams with a big win over the Detroit Lions to stay in the playoff hunt.
In the game earlier today, Michael Vick would throw a quick pick as Eli Manning would link up with Rueben Randle back-to-back times and then one for David Wilson in the first quarter alone to push the score to 21-0. Then later on in the game, Eli would connect with Victor Cruz for a 24-yard TD pass then cap off the game with a one last TD pass to Henry Hynoski to finish the game at 42-7.
Not even throwing a career high 5 touchdowns from Eli Manning could ease some tension within the Giants and their fans as the team had lost 5 of their last 7 games looking similar to their in-stadium rivals, the Jets. The Giants put themselves in a bad spot losing their previous 2 games leading up today scoring only 14 points in both games combined and giving up a whopping 67 points.
This marks the 7th straight season the Super Bowl champion has failed to win a playoff game in the following year as the Giants off-season officially begins along with imminent criticism they were hoping Jets would receive tomorrow morning.
