THE BIG APPLE IS LIT!

Heading into the series, the story surrounding the big showdown between the New York Mets and the Chicago Cubs was how their bats would fare against the pitching that dominated the Los Angeles Dodgers the series before.

The result? The Mets rotation of Matt Harvey, Jacob deGrom, Noah Syndergaard and Bartolo Colon were too much for the young Cubbies to handle in the postseason. For as good as they hit against the St. Louis Cardinals and throughout the season, the Cubs only hit .164 for the series, the lowest average in NLCS history.

That’s not even mentioning Daniel Murphy, who was out there setting records, becoming the first player in MLB history to hit a home run in six straight postseason games. He was really lights out on the mound and there was no stopping his swing.

Game 4 started out hot for New York, with Lucas Duda hitting a jack out of the park putting the Mets up 3-0 to start the game. Then Travis d’Arnaud hit a solo shot and the Wrigley Field crowd was completely out of the game. Pure silence.

It was like the game was over before it even started.

Duda came back in the second inning and brought two more runs in after a double, completely running up the score to 6-0 and taking the wind out of the Cubbies sails.

Daniel Murphy put the nail in the coffin in the 8th inning.

Even when Kris Bryant hit a home run in the 8th inning, it was too little too late.

The red-hot Mets will now wait for the winner of the Kansas City Royals and Toronto Blue Jays to see who they face in the World Series. They have now reached the WS for the first time in 15 years.
