San Diego at Denver
Time: 4:40 PM (ET)
Network: FOX
The afternoon action for divisional coverage ends today with the San Diego Chargers on a road game again this week against the Denver Broncos. Payton Manning his team have had a week to prepare and rest up for a very tough-minded Chargers team that dominated the Cincinnati Bengals last week in the biggest upset of the playoffs thus far.
These two teams are only a month removed from their last meeting, where the Chargers went into Mile High and defeated the Broncos. At the time, Manning had an ankle injury that limited his mobility and passing down the stretch of the game. Demaryius Thomas and Wes Welker (who also missed the previous game in December) will be back today for their first game in 2014. Both teams will be looking to run the ball, but we’re expecting the game to come down to whether Peyton Manning doesn’t choke down the stretch, at home.
San Diego have proven themselves to not be fearful of any higher seeded teams and are by far the hottest team in the NFL heading into the playoffs. We expect Denver to pull out with the victory, but a Chargers upset wouldn’t be out of the norm.
