NFL Thursday Night: Chiefs/Eagles Recap

Green Bay Packers v Philadelphia Eagles
Kansas City at Philadelphia
Time: 8:25 PM (ET)
Network: NFL Network

Tonight, Andy Reid and Donovan McNabb return to the city of brotherly love, where the two had success last decade with the Philadelphia Eagles. During half-time of the big Eagles and Chiefs game, 6-time Pro Bowl quarterback and franchise leader in completions, passing yards and passing touchdowns, McNabb will have his number 5 jersey retired. Tonight, we’re expecting the Chiefs running game to overwhelm Philly due to Jamaal Charles, who’s been cleared to play after negative X-rays over the weekend.

Kansas City is currently 3rd overall in defense and 2nd overall in scoring defense. Not even Michael Vick as the 3rd rated overall QB right now at passing with help from both LeSean McCoy and DeSean Jackson leading the league in rushing and receiving will be enough.

UPDATE: Chiefs Win 26-16 | Highlights After The Jump

Pilly’s defense will have to play less aggressively tonight, which they blitzed Phillip Rivers over 50% of his drop back passes, as he took advantage of their mistakes. Andy Reid, who’s still familiar with the Eagles defensive system after serving as head coach for last 14 seasons until this season, will use his inside knowledge to help Alex Smith breakdown his former team. The Chiefs are positioned to go 3-0 for the first time since 2003, with the possibility of remaining undefeated throughout week 6; seeing meetings against the Giants, Titans and Raiders. Philly’s game will come down to how offensive efficient they can be tonight, with Chip Kelly having to use his high-paced offensive style seen in opening week 1
