After being winless in four games, Dennis Allen got the boot
Dennis Allen was the seventh coach hired by the Oakland Raiders since 2002 and after a rough 0-4 start to the season, the Raiders have fired him. Allen was 8-28 as Oakland’s coach since being hired just two years ago in 2012.
We all know how quickly the Raiders love to hire and fire coaches, so the firing shouldn’t come to much surprise, especially with the numbers Allen had. Under Allen as the head coach, Oakland had the second worse win percentage in the league with .222%. Oakland has also lost an NFL high 10 games straight, dating back to last November. The final straw for Allen was the embarrassing loss the Raiders took in London last week, as the Miami Dolphins beat them by a score of 38-14.
Whoever the Oakland Raiders select to be their next head coach will be their eighth since 2002, which is the most head coach changes in the NFL during that period.
Even at 0-4, the Raiders have some promise with rookie QB Derek Carr and big off-season signings. But, whoever is brought in to coach the team definitely has their work cut out for them. What would Al Davis say?
