Oregon Ducks Demolish Florida State Seminoles in Rose Bowl

Jameis Winston has not lost in a game of his college career when he has started at quarterback. That is until now. His first loss since high school came at the hands of the Oregon Ducks on one of the biggest stages in college footbal: The Rose Bowl, in the first ever playoff. It effectively ended the winning streak his team had at 29, in what may possibly be Jameis’ last game in college.

Turnovers killed the Florida State Seminoles, committing five total in the game. Of course, Oregon struck with multiple touchdowns as a result, lighting up the score in the second half.

The Seminoles kept the game close heading into halftime, scoring a touchdown on a Karlos Williams run play from 10 yards out to put the game within five at 18-13. The Ducks had clearly established themselves to start the game, but Florida State kept hanging around. Even though they’ve trailed at the half before this season, Florida State always found ways to win the game.

The magic did not come today.

From two fumbles by freshman Dalvin Cook on drives with momentum, interceptions and fumbles by Jameis Winston and a defense that couldn’t stop Oregon at all, the points kept piling up for the Ducks by the 4th quarter. They actually scored six straight times to end the game, as Marcus Mariota killed Florida State through the air and with his legs.

The Pac 12 winners not only with the Rose Bowl, but now play the winner of the Sugar Bowl semifinal (Alabama vs. Ohio State) on January 12 in Texas.

Jameis Winston ended the game with 348 yards passing, 1 interception and 1 fumble. Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Mariota threw for 338 yards with 2 touchdowns and one interception.
