Phil Jackson, who’s been on a promo run for his new book “Eleven Rings: The Soul of Success” (or 11 champ;ipnsikp[ ringhs), he made his way to ESPN for a brief sit-down interview with Jeremy Schaap. The topic of discussion the last few weeks (or 17 years) has been “Michael Jordan or Kobe Bryant.”

In the interview, Phil discusses the coaching comparisons he had with the two saying he coached Jordan at the age of 27, as the two developed a brotherhood with Michael’s game already in-tact. With Kobe Bryant, he said he treated him like a son, coaching him at the age of 21. During 2003 when Kobe was affected by the rape scandal, Phil’s daughter had a sexual encounter that affected their relationship. Jackson touched on having biggest player-coach relationship ever with Kobe when he came back in 2006.

He closes out with discussing his relationship with Shaquille O’Neal being a motivation in his MVP season; as well as not receiving another shot with the Lakers, Mike D’Antoni and more. Watch the interview after the jump.
