The Philadelphia Eagles Fire Head Coach Chip Kelly

After what was supposed to be a championship contending season for the Philadelphia Eagles, CEO Jeffrey Lurie and team chairman have decided the best course of action was to part ways with head coach Chip Kelly. He had a two-year tenure at the helm where he served as coach, head of football operations and had title or powers of general manager.

Chip overhauled the team during the offseason, sending LeSean McCoy to the Buffalo Bills, signing a flopping DeMarco Murray and trading for Sam Bradford with the St. Louis Rams, but the moves only achieved a 6-9 record this season.

“We appreciate all the contributions that Chip Kelly made and wish him every success going forward.”

The organization will hold a press conference on Wednesday and Pat Shurmur will be the interim coach for the Eagles as they close out their disappointing season in New York against the Giants on Sunday.
