End of the road in Phoenix
The Jeff Hornacek tenure in Phoenix as coach of the Suns has come to an end to start February, as the organization has decided to part ways with him after team’s 19 loss in 21 games.
The Suns lost to the Dallas Mavericks last night, making it their 14th road loss of the season and management has decided enough was enough. General manager Ryan McDonough informed the coach of his decision after the game.
Phoenix went into the season as a playoff favorite after adding Tyson Chandler to the roster, but a myriad of injuries to the likes of Eric Bledsoe and Brandon Knight have affected their winning ways. Even though they were fond of Hornacek after he turned around the team around in the past two seasons, the team gave him an ultimatum around Christmas time when their record dropped to 11th in the Western Conference. And things just got worse.
An interim coach will be announced on Tuesday as Phoenix looks to regroup and save what’s left of the 2015-2016 season.
