They might have an upset or two in them too
Going into today’s game against the Cleveland Browns, it wasn’t as easy for the Pittsburgh Steelers as “win and get in.” They needed a little help from the New York Jets.
The Jets had to lose and the Steelers win to give Pittsburgh that last spot in the AFC Wild Card race.
That’s exactly what happened.
Pittsburgh went on to lock down a 28-12 victory against the Browns and the Rex Ryan led Buffalo Bills made sure the Jets didn’t make it into the Wild Card by defeating them 22-17.
Without a running game (D’Angelo Williams got hurt today and Le’Veon Bell is out for the season), the Steelers will have to rely on the air attack from Ben Roethlisberger and Antonio Brown to carry them deep into the playoffs and they can put up the numbers to make it happen.
Although the seeds are still being determined, Pittsburgh will likely face playoff first timers like Brock Osweiler or AJ McCarron on their path that leads to Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. Brian Hoyer and Alex Smith don’t actually incite fear either.
