This NBA offseason was really set into motion when Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce & Jason Terry were all traded to the Brooklyn Nets on draft night. With Doc Rivers also leaving for Hollywood, this trade broke up the Boston Celtics core that we came to know over the past couple of seasons. The only real piece left however, was star point guard Rajon Rondo.

Now for the first time since the big summer blockbuster trade, Rondo opens up to the media for the first time all year and his response about what went down may surprise you. Check out after the jump to see Rondo’s reaction and more on the story.

Asked about the departures of Doc Rivers, Paul Pierce, and Kevin Garnett, Rondo was unemotional.

“It wasn’t difficult at all,” said Rondo. “I didn’t feel anything. I actually landed in LA the night of the draft. I had 45 text messages come through the phone. I thought I was traded.

“It’s not the first teammates that I’ve been close to who were traded away — Perk, Tony Allen. It’s part of the process. This is a fresh start for us, a new coach and a new team. I’m excited about the fresh start.”

Rondo was pretty straight to point and very stern with his former teammates. This will be a very important year for him, as he will look to bounce back from a torn ACL injury with an extreme lack of talent on the squad and will be left to do most of the work. With the entire Celtics team in rebuild mode, it will be very interesting to see what they do with Rondo. Maybe he even gets traded at some point in the near future.

Just like the current motto of NBA, anything can happen!
