When it felt like luck just wasn’t in their favor, Real Madrid came from behind to beat Atletico 4-1 and win the Champions League final. Having won La Liga several weeks ago, Atletico opened the scoring just over the 30 minute mark, after Godin was able to convert a header over Casillas. Real kept on pressing and were rewarded with an equalizer from Ramos during the 93rd minute, taking the game to extra time.
With neither side managing to find a winner in the first half of extra time, frustration forced Diego Simeone to run onto the field and complain about time added on. Not long after the restart, Bale grabbed the decisive goal to make it to 2-1 to Real with a convincing loose header. Less than 10 minutes later, Marcelo added to the lead by storming towards goal and slotting it past Courtois into the corner. Matters got even worse for Atletico within the final minute, with early goalscorer Godin giving away a penalty and Ronaldo securing a breathtaking 4-1 win.
