The NFL has reached a verdict and ultimately fined public enemy #1, Richard Sherman, $7,875 dollars for taunting the 49ers in the NFC Championship Game last Sunday. The fine has nothing to do with the post-game interview outburst, but more for his actions on the field with a minute left to go in the game.
The choking gesture he made towards San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick was called on the field as unsportsmanlike conduct and came after getting tapped in the helmet by Michael Crabtree. Sherman broke up a pass and forced an interception that could have been the go-ahead score for the 49ers. Obviously, Crabtree wasn’t pleased when he was approached after the fact and the trash talk snowballed into one of the most talked about post-game interviews of the year.
