After leaving last Sunday’s game with the New York Jets, it seems like Rob Gronkowski‘s season is all but done. The New England Patriots tight end will undergo back surgery on Friday to fix a herniated disk and will be sidelined for about two months.
The past few seasons, Gronk has suffered multiple injuries and just this year alone, he’s been on the field for half the time.
It is unclear how or what play caused the back injury on Sunday, but it happened early in the game and walked off with medics before the first quarter even finished.
This is a big loss for the Pats, considering their other tight end Martellus Bennett is sidlined with injuries, leaving only Matt Langle as their only tight end on the roster. He’s only played one game in his NFL career and was signed from the Cincinnati Bengals practice squad.
