After releasing Johnny Manziel and trying to straighten their quarterback troubles, the Cleveland Browns hope that their latest signing relieves some of the pressure they’ve had at quarterback for the past few seasons. The team has agreed to a 2-year deal with Robert Griffin III after his meeting with coach Hue Jackson and associate head coach Pep Hamilton.
The former second overall pick in 2012 didn’t play a single snap last season and was released by the Washington Redskins at the end of this year in a salary cap move by the team. RGIII hopes a change of scenery will help resurrect his career, who has been on a decline since his rookie season.
Here’s what Griffin had to say about him joining Cleveland:
“I’m excited about the opportunity to join the Dawg Pound and help build something here in Cleveland. Coach Hue and Pep, I had a great meeting with them. I really believe in what they preach and how they can help not only me as a player but this team win games, and that’s what we’re all about.”
Sources surrounding the team still say the Browns might take a quarterback with the No. 2 pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, in hopes to groom him while RGIII get situated.
