Kings intrigue Rudy Gay with young talent and trust worthy management for long-term situation.
Unlike the big news earlier, in which we saw Carmelo Anthony officially informed New York Knicks management his plans to opt-out and test the free agency this summer, Rudy Gay has decided to opt-in for the 2015 season. Gay’s set to turn 28 in a few weeks and will be entering the prime of his career and is set to make $19.3 million next year.
Sacramento management is already laying down groundwork to give Rudy incentive to stay in town showing signs of even maximizing his contract to finish his career in the capital of California. Along with intriguing talent for the future in the likes of DeMarcus Cousins and Isaiah Thomas, the Kings head into this year’s draft with the number 8 overall pick.
The team is in desperate need of some veteran leadership, which we see Rudy filling that void for the immediate future. Fresh from his 20-6-3 season, team general manager Pete D’Alessandro will be looking to get an extension done before the October 31st deadline.
