Not only did last night’s Area 21 with Kevin Garnett become a therapy session for the former 2008 Boston Celtics to express feelings about their old teammate Ray Allen, but Kendrick Perkins also dropped a little nugget about Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant‘s relationship that we previously didn’t know.
According to the former Oklahoma City Thunder forward, the two are on talking terms and it happened after Russ broke the Oscar Robertson triple double record last month.
Perkins said he had been texting back and forth with KD and he mentioned the fact he had a good conversation with Westbrook, but the media had no idea about it. Well, at least until now because he’s putting it all out there (we’re sure they appreciate that).
To add even more fuel to the fire, Perkins said Durant returning to OKC isn’t out of the question and he could see it happening down the road. He mentioned the fact that Russ is the type of guy who would stay in a Thunder uniform for the remainder of his career and wouldn’t be surprised if they reunite as teammates at some point.
Could Durant pull a LeBron James and head back to his original team after fulfilling his dream of winning an NBA Championship or two? Maybe. But how will the Thunder afford his salary?
