Russell Westbrook Notches 15th Triple Double of the Season

For the sixth time this month and third game in a row, Russell Westbrook completely dominated the stat sheet by getting himself ANOTHER triple double. The ridiculous achievement came in tonight’s in the Oklahoma City Thunder‘s 111-107 win against the Houston Rockets.

Westbrook finished the game with 21 points, 13 rebounds and 15 assists and joins the elite company of Michael Jordan and Larry Bird, to notch six triple doubles in a calendar month (in the last 40 years). His 15th also put him behind Magic Johnson as most in an NBA season in the past 30 years. Back in 1989-1990, Magic had 17. There are only 11 games left in the season, so it seems like he might set the record at the pace he’s playing.

When asked about his individual play, Westbrook says he is blessed to be mentioned in such company but he’s focused on helping the Thunder win games and bring home a championship.

As much as he tries to downplay the stats, two things can be said for facts: OKC is 15-0 when Westbrook gets a triple double and Russ has been a certified BEAST this season.
