Westbrook Injuries Knee After Collision, Out For The 2013 Playoffs With Knee Sugery.
Oklahoma City Thunder point guard, Russell Westbrook injured his right knee last night which Rockets guard Patrick Beverley went for a steal during the second quarter.
The dive caused Westbrook to hit the court, but he would still finish the game not knowing he suffered a season-ending injury. After the game and during routine NBA playoff check-ups to be safe, the Thunder medical staff would find that Westbrook would have a torn meniscus in his right knee. This is obviously devastating to the Thunder team who were looking to return to the NBA Finals this year, and chase their dreams of an NBA title; but will have to postpone their playoff run until next year at the earliest.
Westbrook is expected to undergo surgery immediately to repair his right knee, ending his 2013 season. The Thunder are now gearing up for game 3 of their first round series they lead against the Houston Rockets set for this Saturday.
Westbrook averaged 24 points during the series’ first two games, as the OKC will definitely miss their energy and scoring spark from their PG. Nobody is safe in the 2013 playoffs, as the Western Conference is officially up for grabs.
